Submissons
The Plebian Rag is looking for slippery poetry, loving the beat style poetry, something so fresh we salivate, hard nosed carpet burn short stories, artwork that will sober up Picasso, something that will make us look twice and say “did they just say that?” So be unique and innovative.
When we think of the title of the magazine “Plebian Rag” we think of this: dirty, peasant, downtrodden, wanting to rise up, make a difference and change your lot in life, a person who knows what its like to work hard but with little return, someone with experience and can share that experience to cause a shift in mores, a writer who has been there and done it all, a writer who is getting there and will do it all. Now, we are running the risk of stereotyping and we certainly don’t want to do that, so before you submit ask yourself one question: “What makes this important?”
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS And if you feel comfortable with your answer, all you need to do is email us to therag {at} theplebianrag {dot}com and use Poetry Submission in your subject line. All submissions must be pasted into the body of the email we will not accept attachments, however if your format is tricky and you would need to send us an attachment please ask us first before sending and we will let you know. Only include up to three 3 poems in an email we will not accept simultaneous submissions.
Please do not use the form to the right for your submissions unless you are just sending one poem, multiple poems or poems that need formatting should be emailed. We welcome all queries.
The Plebian Rag will feature one poet for one week, if you are selected as the featured poet we will ask you for a minimum of three 3 poems for us to publish, not all will make it into publication so please be sure to send us ONLY your BEST works. Bear in mind we receive numerous submissions per day, please be patient while we review your work and please don’t send 10 poems at once or bother with 3 page stories because we just wont read them, unless you ask us first.
We accept poetry, fictional short stories, letters, and visual arts along with performance spoken word poetry videos, (if you want to submit a video please email us a link to the video from YouTube as we only accept YouTube videos) at this time we will not be accepting stand alone audio recordings but may consider this in the future.
We would like to thank everyone who takes the time to submit and we value your ambitions to be a writer.
